Hoisin Sauce - An Asian BBQ or Dipping Sauce

Hoisin sauce, is also known as Chinese (BBQ) barbeque sauce. Its quite unique in flavor. Hoisin sauce is both pungent fragrant and used frequently in Asian marinades, as well as stir fry.

Hoisin sauce is usually made from an interesting combination of fermented soy, vinegar, garlic, chilis, and somemes even sweet potatos. Its a dark sauce and thick sauce, with both a rather strong, salty, and sweet flavor - All athe same time.


In Chinese cuisine, for example, you'll find Hoisin sauce used in the preparation of BBQ spare ribs, Mu Shu Pork, spring rolls, Peking duck, as well as a variety of barbecue-style dishes. For Vietnamese Cuisine, its used for glazing broiled chicken dishes, as well as being a popular condiment for Pho, a traditional Vietnamese sliced meat and rice-noodle soup dish.
